I'm so happy it made it out okay! I saw your post early on but felt I didn't have enough experience to advise, so I'm really glad other people did n he/she is doing fine, and looking adorable :love

OK so I have a question or 2 about this baby. How long till it can and should be standing fully because he just kinda sits or she still don't know and what is this? Is that normal? I really don't remember ever seeing something like this but I am new.

I Googled and it seems Google says it's normal it's just it's belly button I figure something like this but wanted to be sure it was OK cause I'm a spaz but still about its walking I feel like it should be able to walk it's feet don't look messed up or anything

Baby chicks sometimes scoot around for a day or two b4 standing. Sprinkle a bit of chick feed it can reach. Is that the chick that u helped hatch? Sometimes the ones like that take a bit longer to get on thier feet. U can out antibiotic ointment on the belly button if it seems weepy..that where the egg yoke was attached/absorbed.

It looks dry just a small (maybe pen sized hole) and I'm building a brood now almost done I did give the chick some starter feed and some water off my finger I'll get it set up soon but should I leave it in my Bator till its walking

Good morning! Just watch the opening for any signs of infection, but it should close fully....and yes, sometimes babies take a bit to get to their feet and figure it out. You are good to put baby in the brooder now. If you have any nutria-drench you can give baby a drop:) How do your other eggs look this morning?

Hang in there with monitoring and give the baby some time:) Its REALLY easy to start panicking and worry about them hatching out OK, but it is a process they go through...so hang in there:hugs Try not to open the bator too much so the humidity stays up!

THANK YOU @AmyLynn2374 for checking into this thread!:hugsYou are a great support to hatching!!! Will this baby be able to finish on its own with so much of the shell missing? Or will it need to be helped out the rest of they way when veins have shrunk?
Sometimes they will have a bit of a problem but you'd be surprised how well they can get out with that much exposed membrane. And thanks for the compliment. I was tagged and had a private message asking me to check it out...lol

YAY!!! Yes...keep updating! And no matter how long you have been hatching, it is always a learning process:) have received a lot of great information, advise and support on BYC!!! :thumbsup
That is soo true! After 3 years I still learn and refine my hatching techniques.

The baby thinks I'm it's momma :D it looks right st me n tried to get to me Yay its perfect

Guys I'm in love!!!

That is awesome! Congrats!

I think that's the vent
The vent is on the butt under the tail. This is the "navel" which should close up. Non pain relief antibiotic can be used on it to help keep out infection.
