I've raised barred Rocks, RIR, Easter Eggers, and light Brahmas, and I've enjoyed them all.
My barred Rocks have always been the friendliest of the bunch, and the most curious. The Easter Eggers tend to be a bit on the flighty side, they take a bit more handling to tame them, but you can do it with a little patience. The Rhode Island Reds are the most dominant of my chickens, and very vocal. But they're good layers, and love pestering my cats... (they get extra points for harassing the cats 
) The light Brahmas are super mellow and sweet. They follow me around wanting treats. If they come from a hatchery, most Brahmas aren't likely to get really huge.
