I'm not getting anything done!

I am doing the same thing! My chicks came yesterday. I am still not even dressed!! Today is DH's B-day and I hope I remember to make his cake! I need to dust, do laundry, take the dog out, ect..........instead I am watching, holding, cuddling chicks~!

you have to learn to get all your work done.then you can play with the chickies.i know thats hard todo.because you want to watch them all the time.

And here is another one! I'm also a first-time chicken owner and truly all ga-ga about my peeps. I have had them for a week now and can't get over how fun they are. I've spent hours with them, sitting with them, catching bugs for them, holding them, hand-feeding... you all know what I mean. And in the mean time the chores around the house fell behind and I had to hussle to get the place ready for the in-laws who are arriving today.

I'm the proud mama of 2 easter eggers, 2 black Australorps, 2 Barred Rocks, 2 silver-laced Wyandottes and 2 golden-laced Wyandottes. And I can't get over the size difference after only one week. My light colored easter egger is nearly twice the size than the smalles of the bunch (a Wyandotte) and her wing feathers are are growing in super fast. Her tail feathers are also showing! And she isn't even the most competetive of the bunch. Is that common?

Anyways, I'm looking forward to the BYC community. There is no-one around here as exited as I am and it is nice to have found like-minded people who enjoy talking chicken!

I'm a 3rd-timer but a 1st-time at actually keeping a chick more than a month with the goal of having it remain with us as a family member. It's supposed to be my daughter's responsibility and pet but lo n behold, I end up getting attached to it!!!!!

OMG I obsess over this chick's welfare, feed, "coop", and whatever else there is! I was heartbroken to put our chick outside (it got TOO big to fit in the brooder I made and too warm in it in the house) in its new makeshift coop.

Ah wells...at least I know I'm not alone!

It is very relaxing to sit and watch them play and to get them use to you. My DH told me that I needed to schedule play time so that I could get household things done too. Between the chicks, hens and this website I get absolutely nothing done. LOL

Oh, thank goodness I'm not the only one! I've had my 6 araucanas a week and I just sit and watch them. They're too freaking cute to walk away from them to do boring things like, oh, work.

I started taking my 6 week old chicks out in the yard last week. I spend a very pleasant 2 to 3 hours just watching them. My SO has already admitted to being jealous of the time I spend with the chooks and the other day I heard him explaining to my dog why she should be jealous too.

* I think we need to form our own S.H.E. Group with SOMEBODY organized enough to show us how to have "all this and chickens, too!!" I only have one hen and I'm STILL checking on her every 45 minutes or so!! And-- I'm supposed to clear out my ENTIRE house & move on Aug 31st!!! I can't KEEP UP, now. HOW am I supposed to CLEAR OUT?? Talk about panic!

I have a sink full of dishes. I had my DH and DS get subs from Sheets last night because I wanted to sit outside and watch my 8 week olds. And my DH said if I don't stop spending so much time on BackYardChickens his going to throw my computer out the door.
