Ok MEANIE!!! I know, I know, it's not so much the name calling thing, just more so the getting talked down to by people a few years older than me!!! I wish people just knew how to keep thier mouth shut, even if I was 16 with a baby it's none of thier beeez wax lol!!!

When I was 28 I was changing a flat tire at a parking lot. A man who looked to be in his 40's stopped and changed it for me (what a gent!), after he finished, he told me in all seriousness "you need to make sure to have your dad check your tires for you". I just smiled and thanked him profusely. When I told my dad this, he referred me to my DH.

Another time, I must have been 30, I was in a minor car accident. The reporting officer asked if I needed to call my parents (he thought I was a minor). I think he was younger than I was.

As a woman who lived in the south, being called hon or sweetie doesn't generally bother me. It's much better than what they could call me, that's for sure!

In 1980 when my firstborn (son) was due I was walking down the street and a teenage boy began walking w/me, trying to pick me up...I was married, expecting my first child in February and he thought I was a chubby teenager...I didn't know if I should laugh or cry, so I did both;) Great memory, now!!! Not so great back then:lol: Now I work in a corrections facility and one of the residents there asked the other staff member how old I was, behind my back, he (resident) started with twenties? Thirties? OH, forties??? FIFTIES??? He then said he preferred older women, LOL! He's only in his thirties, that little scene really made the other staff member's day! Lil Missy, kick up your heels and enjoy your blessing (Heart hug)

I feel ya. I'm the exact same way.

I went out to eat with my grandparents a year or so ago, and the cashier asked if I wanted the kids meal!! The cheaper one for kids under 12!!

I know I look young, but 12???

Surprisingly, I've never gotten carded for buying liquor

my DH who has wrinkles o his eyes and is 39 got carded the other day. he was so proud he grew two inches

Don't you think it matters who says it, how it is said, and ages? My dad used the affection "sugar" sometimes to us girls when we were little, and his mother often called the grandchildren by a middle name as a special endearment. My cousin told me that dad called her "baby girl" when she was young. I never knew that.

Ugh! I feel your pain. I had the guy at the sandwich shop ask me if I was even old enough to be married after he saw my ring. Yup, I'm 28, married, am a scientist, have a mortgage, etc.

Everyone always says you'll be thankful when you're older, but it really sucks to not be taken seriously because people think you're just some kid.
