Cool! My Houpingtons only got 4 toes! But they are still cute!

one has 4 and one has 5.

a RIR was hatched, i think in the night. it's light with the reddish chipmunk pattern.

also, a RIR is trying to get out now. is pipped and working on zipping.

one prob...maybe someone will know the answer...

one chick was zipped and not coming out, not coming out...on and on. finally, i noticed it was dripping yolk and stuck to the wire on the floor.

i rolled it slightly and saw it was COATED with yolk and sealed shut! i helped the little bugger out and it made it. it still has yolk on it that is hard as a rock. can i was it in warm water????

I have washed hatchlings under a stream of warm water lots of times and them placed them back in the bator to dry out after a good rub with a towel to wick most of the excess water off. I have never lost one.

Good luck with the stuck baby as well as the rest of the hatch! Congrats on your cute little brood!

They are adorable!! I can't wait to get an incubator and have lil ones. I had a broody hen hatch a mutt out. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it gets all of it's feathers in!!!

I am confused by the RIR with Chipmunk pattern. There is not a Phoenix in that pen, Wonder if that is what a Houdan on RIR does?

i will try to get some pics tonight of the crew here!

we lost two. one had a funky set of legs and one, the one that had yolk all over him, passed. but, all in all, i thought the turn out was good and all of the rest are super chipper and as cute as buttons!
