Is the friend going to take all the chicks - this one and any others you buy? If so then get another chick, but there is a chance that your broody will not take the chick, so you would have to raise it.
I have a broody like that, she refuses chicks who do not hatch under her - she must be able to tell by chick voice.
Now I have a couple other broodies who will take chicks for up to a week past the date that their own chicks have hatched and will feed or warm any chick who walks up to them.
