I'm Sending Feed to be Analyzed

I don't believe I've cut down anyone's methods. On the contrary, I think it is far easier to switch feeds than go through the expense of testing. Every single bag of feed I have ever got gives the lab analysis right on the bag. Right? So, unless the person who mailed the test and gets the results back has the knowledge available in their brains to figure out what the results mean, then all we have is speculation.

You say people switch feeds (several times a year, you say) then that's part of the problem.
A feed tag isn't a lab analysis.
A feed tag only gives you an approximate nutrient composition and does not tell you all nutrients, dry matter etc.

The only feed manufacture that comes close to providing a lab analysis is Mazuri Feeds a sister company to Purina Mills.
Mazuri pdf link to Mazuri Exotic Game Bird Breeder.

A lab analysis will have much more information on/in it than a simple feed tag and will give you actual nutritional information at the time of test.

Will be watching this thread! Very interested to see the results. :)
Hopefully, I'll have some results next week. I'm so busy... Lol! I'm the at dent activities director at our school. I'm currently (meaning as I type this) running a Valentine's Day themed scavenger hunt, and I have meetings today during my lunch period and after school. Hoping to drop it off on the way to after work meeting #1...

I thought it was just me…
Yeah, some people eat eggs from their own chickens but being vegan means not eating dairy, animal by-products, meat, etc.

So i can’t just own a cow and then take the milk and eggs from a chicken and still consider myself a vegan, because that would be a vegetarian. Just call yourself a vegetarian. Nothing wrong with that!

There are names for different diets.
Vegan: Not eating meat, animal by products or eggs
Vegetarian: Not eating meat
Ovo Vegetarian: Like a vegan but they eat eggs
Pescatarian: Doesn’t eat meat but eats fish and other seafood.

And there are so many more, to.

I have mentioned on here before what I do for a living in this feed convo…. Physiologist….

I firmly believe most of our society has actually become pastaterians (one who eats pasta) and claim one of the other categories…. It’s really interesting to me. I would bet the crowd on here is less likely to have this be true though since we care enough to get our own eggs ect… but the bulk of the population I find this to be true.

This is very interesting. Why do you say that? I'm very curious, esp since you are a physiologist.

I am vegetarian, but I am leaning toward becoming vegan. I don't eat any meat at all, and rarely eat pasta (not a huge fan). I don't eat gelatin or things made with lard or broth. I wouldn't be able to eat insect-based things, either. Vegetarianism a religious thing for me. Veganism would be a personal choice.

Honestly the bulk of society does it because of cost and ease of prep. However, I imagine they like to pick a category that’s vegan or vegetarian because to them it sounds healthier. I’m usually being approached from a health angle and admitting their diet is usually made up of cheap easy foods comes across bad in their perspective. I have found that a lot of people do not actually know what foods are healthy. Instead they follow marketing which is extremely misleading.

My only advice in this decision/lifestyle, much like the nutritional breakdown in the chicken feed on here 😂.. make sure you are getting all essential amino acids. Plant based sources are incomplete.
