Well, I always say to aim high. If you go to the academic, well rounded high school then you will have more opportunities open to you, even if you do decide to get a job right after high school. Do some research on what you would like to do and see what kind of diploma you will need. It is getting where employers are looking for those folks that are willing to go the extra mile.
You CAN still take high academic classes in the tech school... and you still get a diploma.
Its a win win situation. and you CAN go to college from a tech high school. ANY college you want!!!! Just keep your grades up!!
Its basically the same as a regular high school only you have classes for a trade as well...

FORGOT TO SAY I WENT TO COLLEGE FOR NURSING AFTERWARD .

I have to agree here--what you want is to maimize your opportunities. In general tech school curriculum is designed for those who are not planning to continue their education after graduation. All colleges and universities have courses that their enrollees are required to have successfully completed. A regular high school diploma will at least meet the standards required for your state schools, even if not top tier universities. A technical high school diploma may well not meet the entrance requirements for your state colleges and universities. You need to find out if it will or will not, and by how much it is lacking.
There is a possibility that you canbe enrolled at the academic high school and take some courses at the technical school--I know that option is available here. Since you have not yet started high school, you need to strongly listen to your parents--you are still very young and truly do not know the challenges life presents. I don;t know how much older your brothers are, but their experiences are at least part of why they are leading you to attend the academic school.
Talk to your guidance counselor and try to take some tests designed to match your strengths and interests with particular carreers. Also, find out about the specific opportunities available to you at the academic high school--there are probably courses and clubs that you did not have a clue existed.

Maybe, maybe not--she needs to investigate the differences and clearly understand them; we're all making judgements based upon our own experiences, but what is availlable to her may well be very different.

My foster son is in a tech high school also, in the same state as the OP... i know the state laws about tech schools and full accreditation diplomas. As i said..they are a fully accredited school too. Just like a regular high school. She'll HAVE to take the MCAS tests to get a diploma in this state. And tech high schools here have the MCAS testing. So therefore she will get a real diploma and get to go to any college of her choosing...depending on grades, of course. Actually the college scouts were just out at the tech school here.. And i think they have college field trips coming up soon...
Pringle..PM me the name of the school... i'll find out any info that you need.
