I have used unsweetened KoolAid to dye protein fibers (wool, mohair, silk). The kettle I used to dye them (enamel on steel) was permanently etched to the level of the dye bath. The commercial dyes I used didn't even do that.

Makes you wonder what all of us were willingly drinking.

Anybody remember real oreos? First the frosting thinned out and the cookies got thinner. Then they came out with !!! DOUBLE STUFFS !! which were actually thinner than the original at twice the price. Then a gradual shrinking of the package size, and viola! The original package size is now family size, at twice the price. Except now family size (the original) is actually Party Size, with an accompanying increase in cost.

We get a premium ice cream ‘Turkey Hill’ in this region. They harken out of Amish country in Pennsylvania. Anyways, I remember how angry I was one day when I went to buy a 1/2 gallon only to find out they cut the 1/2 gallon by two ounces, price was the same of course. No mention of the change that I was aware of. It just reeks of a sneaky con game.
