I'm so old I Remember when:

Screens kept out the four six eight or more legged critters and not the two legged ones

Sleeping outside

Cars left unlocked with your stuff still in the car
We lived in a most political incorrect house. We left with the doors open as dad didn't want to repair one. On top of that the guns were stored out in the open in mine and my brothers bedroom. Ammo on top of the dresser. Can you imagine the headlines that would make know.

A woman that worked for/with me before I retired had the same issue with her municipal water. She paid outrages, and increasing, charges for water that was of questionable quality, always felt bad for her. I, on the other hand have great well water straight out of an aquifer that has a spring associated with it just a few miles up the road.Costs me nothing but a few bucks a year to run the well pump. Such are the benefits of living in the county.:clap
We could dig a well, just haven't done it

This is info I only know about mobile and Baldwin counties in Alabama and between Hattiesburg and Jackson Mississippi where my cousins lived …
Most every truck you saw had a gun rack with a shotgun or rifle in it and loaded most of the time
left in the truck with the windows down

That was so true around in many rural states. I know that Walmart made a small fortune selling those gun racks. I remember having one as late as the early 80's. I don't remember the exact price but I think it was around $12 that would buy a poor mans hunting rifle in the 50's.

I remember when wedding bands were all 14K yellow gold.
My wife's is. I know there is a reason that pure gold was not used normally as it is to soft and doesn't wear well. 10K if memory is correct can tarnish easily. 24K gold was used I believe for other jewelry that wasn't worn were it would be exposed to elements as for necklace. Memory is very vague but I do remember game shows awarding 24K jewelry as prizes way back when.
