I'm so old I Remember when:

He probably knew Chuck Roberson. He was a pretty active stuntman in that era. If you ever watched McLintock, with John Wayne, Chuck played the part of the sheriff.
I love that movie! I just watched it again a couple of weeks ago. :love

My son (44) came out here last night to take aerials for farmers and asked if he could bring a load of laundry. (He's a bachelor again.) So he gets here and apologizes that he could have taken it to the laundromat but he didn't have time to stop at the bank first. Huh? He said last time it cost him $26 to do two loads. I remember a couple of decades ago going to one to wash a quilt and I think it was $3 total. I told him to NEVER go to the laundromat again, just bring them out here. Jeez, that's insane!

We sang this in choir, so that had to have been about 1976-78. Hubby has it in his repertoire of songs he plays and sings.
Google says it was originally recorded in 64 but was a failure. It got remixed and rereleased in 66 and hit number 1 on billboard. I, too, was thinking it was later but like 70 or so.

This is a little before my time but it's a piece I've long considered sacrosanct and untouchable. Until recently I hadn't ever heard a cover of it that was worthy.

Did you like Disturbed's cover?
I LOVE it. It's like they're 2 side of the same coin. Paul and Art's side is a warning to humanity, and Disturbed's side is a cry of frustration and rage that society has ignored the warning.
