I'm confused...the possum was eating a road killed possum AT THE DINNER TABLE?

You are confused. I told the story at the dinner table. The possum was eating the road killed possum on the road where it had been killed. I was quite descriptive when telling about it.

I remember when I was about 10 some of the neighborhood kids caught a possum and gave it to an older (OK very old and gray) lady who acted like she had won a lottery. I can still see that possum laying on the ground under the faucet as she ran water over it. It can't be any worse than the squirrels I hunted and brought home. I only had to clean one to never hunt them again.

Squirrel is much better than possum. It doesn't have anywhere near the fat an opossum has.

I enjoyed hunting and eating squirrels.

Now that a few have been really grossed out I need to bring up a simple fact. No matter how gross things can be in our heads they are all made up of things found in the periodic chart of the elements. Usually some form of oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen, calcium, magnesium.... I still don't want no stinking bugs.

The only corn smut I've seen is black and a fungi. A corn disease.
