I'm so old I Remember when:

My first computer was more advanced (slightly). I got a Commodore 64 for my elect. contracting business. When I got home I would turn it on and after it warmed up, the screen said "PRESS PLAY ON TAPE". I was more advanced and had a hard drive to boot up.
Now wait. Go to the bathroom, make a sandwich, read a magazine article. Okay, were booted up. All to use a word processor.
The "internet" was called a "Billboard" and WAY too complicated for me.View attachment 3724486

I always wanted the "portable" version. The 80's laptop.

Yup! I'd set everything up and pop in the cassette, go have dinner, then go back to play a riveting game of table tennis!

And yes, Bulletin Board Systems! Or BBS. I was the coordinator for my area.

Speaking as a Boomer, my GRANDMOTHERS used to tell stories like this! 😂 Must be an 'older generational' thing. (I can't complain, we walked on fairly flat suburban streets till we moved rural, then the school bus (eventually) picked us up at the end of our gravel road.)
