I'm so old I Remember when:

I learned to sew on my mom's old manual singer. I was barely able to reach the foot peddle but I loved it. I'd give anything to have one like that now. :love
I have 4 old singers. A hand one from 18something, a foot one my gran picked up after the war. My mum's old electric one which looks very similar to the hand one just with a motor fitted on the side and a more modern one maybe only 50 years old that doesn't work.

How about medical technology?
I have a cousin who was the world's first person under the age of 13 to receive a heart pacemaker. Had to have surgery every few years to replace the battery. It was the size of a hockey puck. She still has one today, although much smaller and no more battery replacement needed.

My grandma still gave me cod liver oil whenever I stayed with her. Nasty stuff!!!
Doctors making house calls.

5 cent candy bars!
And they were HUGE. We'd buy candy at the general store down the street from the one screen movie theater on Main Street. Saturday matinees were 85¢ for kids. I saw some fun movies like Zebra in the Kitchen, Charlie the Lonesome Cougar, The Phantom Tollbooth. You always got a friend to go with you. We'd walk to and from the movie theater, about 2 miles away. No issues with child abduction, circa 1970.
