I'm so old I Remember when:

I remember taking a class in technical writing long ago where instead of following the rules of grammar we were taught to break them to draw more attention to what we were going to write. The prof was the author of the text book we were using.
That reminds me of the technical writing class I took, where we were taught to construct resumes/CVs with attractive tables.

Then, applicant tracking systems arrived

  • And the software can’t understand bullet points or tables.

Then I remember My Dad making coffee every morning with the one below on the Left. I have one of the older ones (right) in the garage.

We have so many power outages, this is perfect for making coffee on a propane camp stove. Saved me from ever starting a morning without coffee! Tastes better than just heating water and pouring it through your drip machine fwiw

My parents had one of those. I woke up to the smell of percolated Maxwell House every morning with the likes of Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, and the likes playing on the clock radio on the kitchen counter.

God, I miss my parents. Such wonderful, salt-of-the-Earth, just plain decent, loving people.
🥹🥺😥

But also, whatever happened to Maxwell House coffee? It doesn't even smell the same and it tastes like burnt dirt last time I had it. 🤷‍♂️

AND just one more note. We have a ceramic-on-steel (graniteware) percolator for camping.

I'm so old I remember traveling on the old two lane roads up through the mountains between FL and Ohio. There were many drop offs going almost straight down on curves. As you would start rounding the cure someone had put up a hand written sign saying "Prepare to Meet Thy God". I'm imagine a lot of people did. This was the place where Moonshine was a popular beverage. Still was in the 60's I know for a fact.
