I'm so old I Remember when:

That was probably before cig taxes.
No, that would be the early 20th century. It is true that some increases in taxes in some states drove the prices up to try to drive down usage, but it mostly is just inflation. Missouri has the lowest total tax at 36 cents a pack with an average cost of a pack at $4.35. New York the highest tax at $4.38 a pack with the average cost of a pack at $10.45.

I remember being put outside and told to be back before the porch light came on. But it sure wasn't until well after i was 5 and during the summer breaks.
Your mom was hard core.
I am trying to remember. I definitely remember the rule was I had to be back in by the time lights came on. I don't really remember being chased out - I remember wanting to go out.
But I really cannot remember how old I was. I think like you older than 5.
What amazes me today is that I think the 'back before dark' thing was like the only rule. I remember going places and doing stuff that terrify me just thinking about it today - but I don't think we were breaking any rule from home. I think maybe I wasn't a naughty kid because there weren't that many rules to break!

I am so old I remember when everyone had the iPhone 6.
This is another 'you mean like yesterday' sort of thing - isn't that only a decade ago?

Below is a picture of my first 'mobile' phone. It was loaned to me by the company I worked for as I was the sole female employee sent to a dodgy area. My instructions were to use it if, and only if, I got into difficulty.
The antenna was nice and bendy so I figures I would be better off holding it by the antenna and walloping any assailant over the head with it!
