I'm so old I Remember when:

I'm old enough to remember that TV stopped broadcasting at Midnight, ended with The National Anthem, and went to colored bars and white noise...
Some channels here in our more rural areas still do! 😊

8 track tapes and drive in restaurants (NOT Sonic)
I remember A&W with the trays of our order delivered and hooked on the door window. And we got our root beer in a glass mug - still have a couple of those mugs 😁

Oh my, yes! The bubble machine... Both of my grandmothers were dedicated fans; the show always seemed to be on when we'd visit. Yet, their other two favorites were Roller Derby and "professional" wrestling! 🤔 Never could figure that out about those two sweet old ladies...🤗
I remember a show we had here called Tiny Talent Time; kids dancing and gymnastics they would compete for first place.

Yes! That was the one night Mom would permit eating dinner on TV trays so we could all watch Wonderful World of Disney. (Not TV trays every week, but sometimes, and it was always a proper home-cooked meal.) So many animal-themed stories: "The Horse With the Flying Tail"; one where a family of raccoons got into someone's workshop and activated power tools [leading to disaster]; a desert coyote stowaway who ends up finding his way around a city...of course now they live in practically EVERY town & city in the U.S.!
YES! We had the same here in Ontario - it was preceded by Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdome 😊

Sunday afternoon and evening were always looked forward to - and yes I remember the movie ‘The horse with the flying tail’ - being horse mad I just had to watch anything ‘horse’.

Of course if I had known how much fun chickens were I would have got rid of my horses years ago! Being old and having had horses for some 40 years, I am over the romance of horses….

Right Truly?

My Dad was a Navy pilot in WWII and then Lockheed test pilot. He installed seat belts in our cars WAAAY before it was a thing and told us, "The car won't start unless everybody fastens their seat belts!" Sadly, our neighbors across the street (~1963 or so) were in a horrible crash on their family vacation (no seat belts) and all died but one of their 3 kids. Needless to say, our whole family is adamant about wearing seat belts.
How sad 😟 your dad was very smart, my dad also made us wear seatbelts, he was a transport truck driver then a crane operator with the Canadian National Railway, safety was everything at the CNR, and seatbelts were mandatory.

I didn’t realize my dad had a dangerous job until he came home one day when I was 12, a crane had tipped over unloading a train, and the crane operator was killed - he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt.

Here is to our unsung hero’s - Dad.

I remember being vaccinated for small pox I think by the school nurse. They broke a little glass vial and twisted it on your arm leaving a round scar. I still have mine.
Yes same here - I was vax-ed but not my sister she was too young, then in 1972 they stopped public vaxxing of SPox. It was such a huge success story 🥰

Wow! Your memory is better than mine!

I remember when festivals and fairs often had an exhibit of someone in an iron lung.
I remember having patients who as kids had Polio but didn’t require the use of an Iron Lung, and lived lives with horrible results from the infection, of course by the time I was a Nurse, Polio was a thing of the past, along with other horrible things like Diphtheria. So we never saw patients with those diseases. And now Chicken Pox is pretty’s much never seen.

I had Shingles about 10 yrs ago, and I called my cousin and told her, “hey your girls haven’t had chicken pox yet, beimg summer did you want to give them CPox? If so I will come over and give them all a huge kiss” (I had shingles on my face ewww!).

Well my cousin laughed and told me her kids were vax-ed for CPox! I hadnt been a Nurse for years by then so didn’t realize kids were now vaccinated for that!

🥰❤️💕
