I'm so old I Remember when:

Books! With covers and pages and pictures. It took two hands to hold them and you had to have a light source over your shoulder to read them because they didn't glow. Reading under the covers at night with a flashlight and mom hollering, "Turn that light off and go to bed!" Or during the day, "Get your nose out of that book!"

Sigh. Reading was my worst vice. What a little rebel I was! :lau

Not me. I stayed away from that and the crowd that was into it.
I watched my brother throw away so much of his time and money chasing his fix.
Seemed once you started it never ended. Of course I experimented a couple times in high school. I didn't care for it and didn't fall for the peer pressure or teachers saying it was good for ya.
I remember once when I was with my brother going somewhere cool and we stopped and got gas. I lost track of him and waited and waited. Finally he showed up and was acting shifty as he got in the car and tried to shove something behind the seat without me seeing.
Ya books. SMDH, we're in a hurry and he's off scoring a couple paperbacks from a dark corner in a gas station. I didn't even know that was a thing.
I knew right then how low someone would go to feed that addiction and knew I was never gonna be like that.

Same here. There's something very satisfying about physical books. But I do have to say I want to miss trying to store them all. I ended up covering an entire wall with bookcases and it wasn't enough. So boxes under beds, in the garage and in the guest room. My siblings are lucky enough to live where basements are the norm and two of them filled their basements with bookcases stuffed to the brim.

With the ease of digital storage, I decided to empty out some space and get rid of all but a few favorites, but my kids went nuts and claimed them all, then asked to store them here til they have space for them. 🙄 😂. On the bright side, even digital loving kids still love physical books.

Speaking of favorite books though... Flowers for Algernon, The World According to Garp, Watership Down...there's so many I hope people have read and not just seen as a movie on the boob tube.

Editing to add The Fox and The Hound. O what a great book! Nothing like Disneys movie.

I remember back when seeing road signs out in the county back roads shot full of holes. They were used for target shooting from the looks of them.
Reminds me of this.
