I'm so old I Remember when:

I remember Clark Griswold and all his vacations. Scratch that. I am reminded of Clark Griswold by the neighbor behind me. Their very-well-lit winking and blinking house (even to the top of the chimney) has an inflatable Santa in the front yard that isn't as tall as the eaves. Oh no, what fun would that be? The tassel on his hat reaches the top of the roof! Christmas Vacation music in my head every time I go out after dark to close in the chickens and ducks for the night. 🎅🌲

I did so many school reports using our Time Life book collections, the Colliers encyclopedias, and my favorite, Dad's HUGE and ever-expanding hoard of National Geographics! [Hubs & I have amassed our own NatGeo hoard over time.] My parents always had lots of books around; they also had a bunch of Reader's Digest Condensed Books. (As an adult I was quite surprised what they'd "condensed out" of some of those novels when I read the original books!)

DH and I are severe biblioholics. We donated what felt like tons of books when we moved north, but somehow the ones we just HAD to bring with us have multiplied, filling all our (old & new) bookcases and even the smaller bedroom ("library annex" 🙄 ☺️) in the ancient mobile home at the back of the property we use for storage/sewing room/beer & shine brewing kitchen. Kind of like "Star Trek" tribbles...

Books! With covers and pages and pictures. It took two hands to hold them and you had to have a light source over your shoulder to read them because they didn't glow. Reading under the covers at night with a flashlight and mom hollering, "Turn that light off and go to bed!" Or during the day, "Get your nose out of that book!"

Sigh. Reading was my worst vice. What a little rebel I was! :lau
Sounds like me :)!
