I'm so old I Remember when:

I remember when there was 1 phone in the kitchen, Harvest Gold color, mounted on the wall, rotary dial. We'd have to stand up the entire conversation, as the cord was only 6 feet long. So we bought an extra long curly cord, 25 feet, & we could stretch it out to sit down & talk, but that always got tangled up & took 15 minutes to untangle.
MIL had a olive green phone like that just outside the kitchen. I think the cord would reach to the sink...? The phone was probably still there when she passed away and the house was sold.

Believe me, her cord would NEVER, EVER have been tangled!

We had this same phone in our hallway. We had the extra long cord, and it was always a tangled mess. :D

To untangle, we'd have to hold up & dangle the end & let it spin, bit by bit, 25 feet worth of spinning 😆 🤣 😂 (hence the 15 minutes)
All the while, getting yelled at for "letting" it get all coiled up & tangled in the 1st place.
I mean the darn cord is basically a rubbery slinky...coiling up is what they do!

I remember that too and it was so fun, us girls would fight over who got to untangle the phone cord. :lau

Exactly! Even while getting yelled at I was laughing about it.
What's weird is, nobody ever noticed it was tangled up until dad saw and said, "Who tangled the phone cord!" Well, it takes a few times to get it really curled up, but that's when we'd run over to it, "Let me!" "Let me!" "It's my turn!"
