I remember when there were only five continents, Saturn had only three rings, and the solar system had ten planets.

I don't recall how many rings they said Saturn had, 5 comes to mind, but the planets...there were 9 then.
I got upset when I heard them say Pluto was going be called a moon & no longer a planet...why do that to poor little Pluto? They demoted the little guy!

I've named one of Roosters Pluto, he may be small but mighty, he's a tough little boy & made it through a mystery illness last month. Seemed like he had a stroke? Weird, but he is back to his sweet normal self, chasing all the young hens around.

So anyway, now I hear Pluto is a planet again???
Oh OK, I guess a Dwarf Planet... I can't keep up.
I suspect there may be a black hole in my head.

NOT an improvement, yuck! In the 70s we'd be putting patches on those pants, or shredding them up to make more patches, or making them into a jeans purse.

I remember cutting many of the legs off to make jeans shorts, too. We'd roll them up. Only the boys wore the frayed ends showing & we often called them "shipwreck shorts" cuz it looks like you've been wearing them while marooned on an island after your boat sunk.

Ah, the denim purse made from worn out jeans. Another great memory. And yes, the rolled up shorts, nothing was wasted

Yep, we made jean purses too. It was a thing. Everyone had to have one. Bonus if you sewed good enough to use the pockets!

I was saving jeans to make a patchwork quilt. I embroidered flowers and leaves and phrases on some of them. I had enough to make a quilt for a twin-sized bed.

Then I got married and didn't finish it. Not sure what happened to all those squares....
