I'm so old I Remember when:

Eat lots of real stinky garlic!
Not in a car!

Great. Now I've got John Travolta singing in my head.
What's he singing?

It wasn't at one time. My point is that 100 years ago people ate more fat, and were healthier. Today heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in America, but our diet has "improved".
100 years ago people didn't sit or lay around all day watching tv or playing video games. They worked on the farm, in the factory, in the garden, they were physically active all day every day. When they weren't working they were swimming, riding horseback, having races, walking a mile to visit a neighbor. What they ate, they worked off. I'm not saying our diets are decent, they're not, they're mostly processed and unnatural, but diet is only part of the problem.
