I grabbed a cheap chicken sandwich, sm. fries and a big coke there yesterday. Paid $7.03 and felt like a bandit.

I never even gave it a thought. Hands and feet are what drove me from my stand, and as a kid sitting on stand I had the patience of a gnat.

I walked by a meat case on my way to the bread aisle and took a look to see what they cost. $6.99 a pound. Same price as a chuck roast. I think I'll keep eating beans over rice. I remember chuck roast at 69¢ a pound.

Yeah, not long ago I had a bit of extra cash and thought I'd treat myself to a nice steak. When I saw the price, I could not justify it even with the extra cash.

I'm so old I remember when the price paid to farmers for wheat was approaching $5 a bushel or about 50lbs. Big company bread bakers were telling people if it did bread would reach an astronomical price. That didn't last long when farmer advocates started reminding them just how many loaves of bread could be baked from a bushel of wheat. Good math skills are important in life. They help people avoid scams and such all to often.
