I'm so old I Remember when:

I was a free range kid. In Denver, no less. My 10-yo twin brother and I used to take two or three busses halfway across town to the swimming pool and spend most of the day there. And we couldn't swim! 😄 The bus cost a quarter and we got free transfers. We'd come home, eat lunch, hop on our bikes and cruise around the neighbiehood with the guys till dinnertime, then back out to do it some more, or play hide and seek, till we could see the stars.

Sigh. Those were the days!

I used to walk down to the corner store every Sunday to buy the newspaper for my parents. And then wander with the dog down abandoned train tracks, around a creek, and over to an old golf course. I must have walked a couple of miles away. My mom thought the dog was plenty of protection.
