I'm so old I remember when you could take what you bought out of a package with out needing a pry bar and a saw to get the item out of a hard plastic wrapping. They want you to buy it now but not use it so it seems.

I have a special utility knife just for this purpose.

I too have a utility knife and so does Ma. But the hard plastic encasements are a bear to get into for to many things they now use them for. Thick enough to go trough a baggage claim area with out damaging the products. Maybe the shippers are to blame... no I do know why and it's to prevent shoplifting.
