I'm so old I Remember when:

The sickest people I have known in my life were also the cleanest--everything spotless, clorox on any kind of spill, microwave the paper towels type clean.

And yet their kids catch every little chill or bug, and of course Mom keeps a stock on antibiotics on hand jic. Most of them know the hospital staff by name because they go in for every scrape.

I'm almost surprised those kids survived to adulthood.

Childhood allergies were almost unheard of when I was a kid. One girl was allergic to milk. Another claimed to be allergic to water--she could only drink koolaid.

It would be interesting to see their kids.
My parents are thankfully not that way. We keep stuff clean but not to the point we get sick all the time.

There was a year that I turned into a hand-washing freak. Well, turns out that was the year I got sick the most.

In my experience, anecdotal evidence is usually proven correct by science once they get around to investigating. I can't count the things I "already knew" when scientists make some amazing discovery. SMH

Odd, koolaid is like 99.999999% water

We had a rotary phone on the wall on one of our houses. We actually got it to work with the modern cable-based telco box. Super neat, and we took it with us when we moved.

Down our way they will close/ delay school in a heartbeat over ANY possible maybe snow dusting.
Here in SE MO they sometimes close down the schools when there is no snow but only dense fog or very high humidity if the temperature is below freezing and going to stay that way. The roads will get a sheen of ice from all that humidity that makes it unsafe for the busses to run and even dangerous for cars. Sometimes you just about can't even walk on it. This was so weird to me, I am from CO and NM and have driven on fairly deep snow, but it's very dry there and not slick.
