I'm so old I Remember when:

I am obviously missing out. I never answer my phone unless it is someone I know. And often not then! I would enjoy the Grandma one.
You know, even though they are doing their job I can’t see them as anything other than bugs. Surely, they have better career paths they could follow.

They take it upon themselves to attempt to inject themselves into my life to scam me or hawk me some product. Being confrontational and frankly rude is justified in my mind.

I screen unknown numbers. If I don't recognize the number or you're not in my contacts I don't answer. Not getting many live scammers anymore, just the robo calls, and occasionally a random bank calling to verify an application for a new credit card which I didn't apply for.
Usually don’t answer unknown numbers either BUT every once in a while I just feel like getting a pound of flesh. What I have a hard time getting my head around is how people allow themselves to be walked into these scams. It seems simple to me that if a scammer is posing as a legit business simply hang up and YOU call the business (from a listed number)and follow up. Perhaps myopic on my part but it just seems so simple to me. Why, if your getting this emergency call from a supposed grandchild from an unknown number, would you not question the call, hang up, and call the grandchild back on the number you’ve always used in the past.
