Same here. That is why we kept the 3 deeds as they were. We also made sure to not build the barn on the property line. Leave the options open.

We have had locals who want to rent and put in a mobile home. Friends who say we should put in a few mobile homes and rent them. Legally we could do this. I know that could create income but I do not want the hassle. We bought this place so no one would be living closely. We don't want to fill it up with people!

We bought our house with 8 acres. One of the neighbors offered us "the field" when they decided to sell, because they knew we wouldn't build on it. We wanted to keep it the way is is. They gave us a bit of a deal, I think. We bought "the old farmhouse" when it went into foreclosure for the same reason: we didn't want someone to put 3 houses out there.

It may sound a bit NIMBY, but land is getting bought up and "developed" all around here. There are more ways to use land than to try to wring every last dollar out of it.

Is it possible for you to have it all deeded together as one property? This would require a survey probably and legal documentation, not sure what that all entails, but the county could help you figure that out. That way you would only get one tax bill. It could be to your advantage if you ever did want to sell in the future, otherwise you would have to sell three different parcels. The benefit of keeping it separate of course, is that you could easily sell one off if you needed extra $$.

We can re-deed is as one but it cost to have an attorney draw up a new deed, register it at the court house.
It is cheaper on taxes to keep it separate because of We have 2 wells and 3 septic tanks.
