Detention? In my elementary school, the best behaved had the fun of that job! We loved it, great clouds of chalk dust billowing out of clapped erasers!I'm so old I remember when unruly kids in elementary grades had the pleasure of a detention where they got to clean the chalk dust out of the teacher's chalk board erasers.
That would have killed me litterally. I'm not so old, but my parents are old enough to remember beatings in school.I'm so old I remember when unruly kids in elementary grades had the pleasure of a detention where they got to clean the chalk dust out of the teacher's chalk board erasers.
That’s what I remember too. We rushed to volunteer to bang the erasers together.Detention? In my elementary school, the best behaved had the fun of that job! We loved it, great clouds of chalk dust billowing out of clapped erasers!
We LIVED for that privilege!I'm so old I remember when unruly kids in elementary grades had the pleasure of a detention where they got to clean the chalk dust out of the teacher's chalk board erasers.
I liked the "click" sound of the chalk on the board. The squeak/screech, not at all.The sound! Chalk on a chalkboard is a specific sound, I like it.
We got to bang them on the side of the building. That was fun. That’s what I remember too. We rushed to volunteer to bang the erasers together.
The elementary school here in my town still offers swats but the parents are required to sign at the beginning of the year authorizing them. I always cross out that paragraph in a big black X, and write "NO! If my kid needs swats, please call me and I will come take care of it!"That would have killed me litterally.
