Sounds about right. My uncle went there and he wrote about it in his book.I think it was the California Museum of Science and Industry which was renovated into the current California Science Center.
There was no internet back then and these kinds of places held much awe and mystery and fascination for school kids (and everyone else). We had a lot of school trips there, and the La Brea Tar Pits, Cabrillo Marine Museum, Griffith Park Observatory, Olvera Street, Leo Carrillo State Park tide pools, our incredible mountains and beaches... so many magical places for curious young minds to explore. Southern California was a wonderful place to grow up in the 60s/70s/80s.
We went to the tar pits and Griffith ages ago. I would love to do those again now that I'm older.
Cabrillo was quite nice. We went there lots.
Olvera street is quite nice. I don't know if I've got too many photos from last time (June 2023).
I still love going to museums and stuff. Especially the ones in pretty buildings.
