I'm so old I Remember when:

What do you do with the things you crochet?
I started out teaching my Girl Scouts how to crochet water bottle slings. A bunch of my Boy Scouts thought they were cool enough to learn, too - so the girls taught them. It was fun!

For myself, I did a beach bag, a VERY floppy hat and a bunch of grocery bags (ironic, if I do say so myself,) but my favorites were the mud-mats. For years, we kept one just inside the back door, They were great for scraping mud & crud off dirty shoes. DD used one in a shallow bin of water to get grass and stuff off of feet before entering the pool - worked like a charm! In my "many kids on the wrong side of a (sometimes) closed door" phase, I kept a half dozen or so. They were completely washable, dryer safe once the paint-print wore off and lasted nearly forever.

I've actually seen a gorgeous sweater made out of plarn, too. You'd never know that it was plastic, but I don't have the patience to twist and roll the stuff to that fine a grade!

Google "plarn patterns" and you'll find a ton of ideas!
