Aww c'mon, you mean you're not curious as to what a "Walk-in Tub Costs Today?" Seriously, it may have changed significantly since the ad you saw yesterday ... or this morning ... or 20 minutes ago.

You know, I run numbers in my head on these things and I’m ballparking that material for these remodels is about,say, $3,000. Most will say in and out in one day so labor cost would be roughly $2,000 -3,000. Now I don’t know for certain having never gotten a quote but I think they are quoting these remodels out in the $15,000 to 35,000 range. If these numbers are remotely close to actual numbers these remodels are another example of homeowners that can’t do for themselves getting royally hosed by contractors.

Your guess is correct! My parents' cost was about $8K for converting a small stand-in shower to a walk-in tub. We did what little demo there was ourselves (that was messy, but fun!) At the last minute, they opted for a point-of-use heater, which did raise the original estimate a bit. According to the contractor, the cost could have gone much higher if they had to reinforce the flooring to support the additional weight of the filled tub. Luckily my stepdad was an Army engineer and shut that attempt down pretty quickly!
