Old TV need adapter. Adapter plug into old TV. Adapter cost money. Old TV use outdated connections.

Sony patented the system for that. Hopefully it's just a "we really don't want this to happen" patent to block it from happening, but I wouldn't be surprised if such a TV will exist in the future.? I don't remember anything like this, Nobs ...
