  • Eight states - Arkansas, California, Florida, Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York and Texas - have laws requiring the installation of seat belts on school buses. Arkansas and Louisiana's laws, however, are subject to appropriations or approval or denial by local jurisdictions. Iowa adopted a rule in 2019 requiring lap/shoulder belts in all new Iowa school buses.

I remember..slug bugs.. Hopefully you didn't get smacked too hard.
I drove my Aunt and Uncle's around for a short time while in California back in the early 70's.

In my family and friends group, they were Punch Buggies. The first to spot one called "Punch-buggy, punch-buggy. No punch-backs" as they punched their neighbor's shoulder. If you weren't quick enough or forgot to add the addendum, you gat nailed back, usually twice as hard!
