If you still have one of those phones, and you have some kind of telephone service, you can get it to work. I had to connect it to the internet phone thing box, but it did work and we made a phone call on it in the 21st century.
People most definitely still use those phones. My neighbor, my parents, my co worker, AT MY JOB. It's called a land line and is not extinct, by any means. Most businesses still use them. How do you think a store answers the phone? That's all still land lines

Surprise surprise, we actually had a landline for ages. We still have one through the cable company. My Nana had an actual landline, the one that works even without power, but AT&T is going to supposedly start shutting that service down.
