When we got our automatic transmission car, I would sometimes step on the brake, thinking it was the clutch, and put the car in park, thinking it was first gear. Nope, didn't start slowly from a stop.

I was still doing that sometimes in my Ford Fusion. Muscle memory takes hold when the brain stops working it seems!

When I'm in Denver visiting DD and my wonderful grandchildren, I drive the SIL's electric car. It takes a day or two to not automatically reach for the clutch. Then after I get home, I'll sometimes forget I need to.
