I'm so old I Remember when:

In 1979 I was a construction apprentice (working on Strategic Petroleum Reserve docks, ironically) and driving 1.5 hours in each direction, 7/12's. The price of gasoline doubled and we were sure we would soon be riding scooters to work.
(Now granted, it went from .50 to a dollar but it was still double.)

When I was roughly the age of the kids in those pictures we lived somewhere that got ‘real snow’ rather rarely. Often a light dusting but we didn’t get a big storm every year.
I can still remember the feeling of waking up one morning and realizing it had snowed all night. I remember how agitated and impatient I was as my mother insisted on mittens (on a long string threaded through my jacket so I couldn’t lose them) and other layers.
I can still ‘feel’ (in my minds eye of course) the thrill of flinging myself into the snow and rolling down the hill.
Thank you for the memory.
Now of course all I do is worry about falling over - though I do still like one big snow a year to play in!
