My Grandmother must have been super flush - ours had a sixpence in it.Everyone on the street left their front doors open - Christmas is summer in Aust - and listened to each others Christmas fun as well as their own.
We did this for a little while yesterday - but someone was within vision of the front door to dong any opportunist burglars - unthought of back then.
Christmas pud is sold in all the shops premade in Aust these days - but back in the day mum used to make it with thipnee bits (3 pence) this was when I was very young - then it went to 5c pieces.
