I had the temp in my incubator drop to 40 during a power outage and still had a decent hatch but it was delayed a day.

for the March 5th hatch, I have 3, out of the 21 that were shipped, but it looked like PO kicked the side of the box in, so these 3 were the only ones to develope. I also have 12 RIR and Mutt eggs due March 12, and 7 Pekin mix duck eggs due March 18th. There is also a Trader Joes egg in there Due March 8th, but I think it quit, but I didn't expect much from it after being shipped, refridgerated and 10 days old by the time I got it, LOL.

Oh Lordy!! I gotta stop reading these kinds of threads!

It just keeps reminding me of all the things that can go wrong. And the closer I get to my hatching date, the more nervous I get! Our due date on our very first hatching is March 6.

When I candled on Tuesday, I had 18 out of 24 with definite development and of that 18, well over half of them had vigorous movement.

Please Great Spirit, watch over all of our little eggs and protect them from harm. And please help Kelseygirl's eggs pull through as well!

I had an incubator full of eggs last spring when we had a freak snow storm in NC on March 1st. I had 3 hatches going and lost all power to the house. I was in full panic mode. I was actually supposed to go out of town that day. So. I packed up teh incubator, turned my car heat on full blast and drove 10 hours to PA. I STILL had chicks hatch!!!!!

But, I've also had my cat unplugg 2 full incubators of eggs and not a one hatched. I had a temp spike on day 20 on an incubator of Polish chicks and only 1 survived. It's just how things go. It's tough and sad, but we have all been there. Which is why this is such a great website!

We can only do what we can do. I hope it does turn out ok for you and your little peeps.
