Pigeon lung, bird keepers lumg, chicken keepers lung, foul lung, all an allergy and same thing, which is protiens and fungus build up in the dust from feathers scales and dried feces of all birds that are kept inclosed and badly. its actually most common in commercial poultry shed operations, zoo keepers, pet store workers, parrot breeders/keepers. racing pigeon keepers who keep hundred/s of pigeons in inclosed loft style outdoor enclosure and practice bad sanitary but most common practice of only supposedly needing to clean every six months to two years, are effected badly after many years of enclosed exposure to mold etc. homers/racers, and rollers, are just toughest types/breeds of rock dove to be able to be and are crammed into these conditions for years without noticed effects of what want of performance from.
roller breeders can and do after thirty years of hundreds of doves, get gravely voices (les than smokers though. lol), and slight occasional cough hack or clearing of throat more.
the pest control companies know how impossible it is to totally eradicate an established feral rock dove flock, so they began major campaigns that stated how bad pigeons were, when just before people believed was good fortune to have a pair of pigeons nesting in or on or home, dove cotes and pigeon coops and pigeon holes were all over.
half a dozen even, let alone only a pair, of rollers, would do nothing to your allergies, as only those already allergic get sick after many birds many years. spend some time around hold sniff hand feed let walk on bare skin, then see if after week you have any reactions, if you want to be safe. your many many more times likely to get sick from even being around let alone owning a single cat (look up many many deadly diseases cats can and often carry and can transmit.
I've heard of several people in commercial operations going blind suddenly from, some recovered some don't. I've heard of two people dying of, but they had other issues before had been exposed to, and didn't seek any treatment.

people don't realize how bad allergies can affect you, causing forms of cancer even, suppressing and even shutting down immune responses to more deadly possibilities. etc..

I've worked in fields of animal and bird specific research for many years. only owning inside constant two to eight, or more birds as rescues research and pets for about four or five years at least. i had to take allergy pills when original birds of hookbills, courternix quail, and rinneck/"turtle doves", were all putting off worst of dust in an aviary, but no allergy pills needed when later moved rollers and tumblers in in the place of former aviary inhabitants.
