Chickens aren't meant to be vegetarian and NEVER would be in the wild! They need the amino acids that come with the animal products. They would jump for joy if you fed them a scrambled egg, some red wigglers or meal worm... ANY type of insect just about.
Anyone who advertises veg fed, says to me the chickens have never seen the light of day or touched the green ground! Of course I now most formulated rations are animal byproduct free and have the amino acids added in.
