I'm wanting to do a Polish/Ameraucana cross,any tips?

Something like this:

You can't really see it in the picture but she has black spots on her neck and some on her wings, I call her color Paint.
Her dad was a Buff Laced Polish mom was a Blue Easter Egger.
Ooh! She's lovely! I like that you call her color Paint! I call my mixed chicks "Picasso" chicks. Are her legs blue? I was wondering about what leg color would come thru. The little white EE's legs look to be the greenish/willow color. Will the chicks have the blue/slate of the buff roo then? Here's a pic of the EE that I'm guessing will be all white. I'm thinking of using her to breed with the buff polish because I want to keep the light color in the chicks, and she has a nice beard. I'd love to eventually get some that have a beard, crest, nice color and/or pattern, feathered blue legs(I'm hoping bringing in the light brahmas somewhere will accomplish the feathered leg part), and still lay blue oe green eggs. Am I over doing it? I know so many people try to keep breeds "true" but I think a little experimenting is a good thing! I'm not interested in showing birds, just having some Picasso chicks that have all my favorite traits! I'm super interested in the genetics of chickens but can't seem to grasp it! Thanks for the help!

Yes she has the blue legs. I think that the orginal blue EE hens had blue legs also plus you add the blue legs from the Polish.

Quote: Possibly they will be blue, but could be green (willow). The green tint comes from blue legs to yellow legs. The babies from blue to green pairing I think you could possibly get both blue and green.

Quote: Not if that is what you want in your chickens. I have four babies from this hen (the one above) that I going to take the pullets and build a flock from them. Rooster to be decided later they are only 8 weeks old tomorrow. They are from a Blue-Tailed Red EE rooster (he is half EE and half Naked Neck). I'm going to try to get picture this weekend.

Thanks for the complement on my hen. She lays almost every day,

I just love the blue legs, they really catch a persons eye! Although if some green pops up I don't really mind. Good luck with your "paint" flock! I just saw some pics of an EE/NN cross on another post and they were definitely some cool looking chickens! I'm glad to hear your hen lays so well! I've been wondering about how the laying ability passes on to chicks in a cross. I've heard conflicting reports about the how the polish lay but the EE's (from my experience at least) are wonderful layers. I'm hoping the chicks have the EE side when it comes to that!

Well I'm not actually aiming for a totally paint flock, multi colored like normal EE's only with the crests. I'm undecided if I'm going to go back to a Polish or go with an EE roo. I have a 1/2 Polish and 1/2 EE (Partridge colored) crested that I'm putting Paint and a Buff Laced Crested hen with.

Thank You,

I'm going to use our blue ameraucana hens and our White Crested Blue Polish rooster:

I have the blue hen, just like this one! Great hen, has yet to lay eggs.

The frizzle lays white eggs, hatched from a olive egg.Must have come from the polish. The buff hen laid a light blue egg. These 2 hens are 1/2 sisters same frizzle polish rooster daddy.Moms were a blue cuckoo olive egger(white frizzle was her baby)and an easter egger(buff hen was her baby).
Do you sell any babies ?

Updated pics of my 3/4 polish 1/4 easter egger chicks.

I'm doing the same cross. Polish and EE.
I have two different hatches of them right now. Don't have any pictures right now, babies do not take very good pictures and rigth now it's just too hot to have to go out and chase then down to catch them.
The first time I crossed a Buff Laced Polish rooster over Blue Easter Egger Hens, all five turned out Paints (white with black spots) with a little buff coloring on them. The second time I hatched out Buff Laced Polish rooster over Silver Easter Eggers hens ( all are buff laced).

My next cross is going to be a roo from this cross over Polish/EE crosses, Polish and Easter Egger.

When it cools down I'll try to post pictures.
What color eggs are they laying ? Do you sell any babies ?
