I am staying in a place with bad internet connection so maybe that's the problem. Although it wasn't like it yesterday.

I've been having same problem. Cleared chrome history and logged back in. I now have 33 notifications

Fwiw, I use ddg on an Android and found disabling privacy protection for byc enabled image rendering.
