Has anyone ever experienced an impacted crop from oyster shells? We thought one of our chickens had sour crop and after taking it to the vet for a crop flush we were told she had stones in her crop. This didn't exactly make sense given the "stone" we were shown was bright white and looked exactly like an oyster shell. I also often fill in holes and work on the chicken coop and run and have never seen any type of stones they could get to.

Is it possible for a crop to become impacted by oyster shells? I was under the impression they dissolved in the chickens digestive tract. We have 3 other chickens who eat them with no issue, and they are all above one year old and lay eggs regularly.

She currently has us giving the hen multiple medications to clear out any sour crop, infection, and to "get her system moving". She went to the bathroom regularly before and is going more frequently now. She also is wearing a chicken bra.

Some birds gorge on oyster shell, if you have a bird that does that, I'd only offer oyster shell once a week on small doses or scattered.
We will start doing that. Do you know of any ways to help them pass the oyster shell?
