I am brand new to chickens. I have 6 that are now a little over two months old. The have been outside now for a few weeks Close to a month. Since they were baby chicks they have had free choice feed. About a week or so ago I noticed one of the girl’s crop not emptying over night. It never got sour or became hard. A few days went by and I asked a few acquaintances if I should be concerned and they said no. I noticed that she is mildly skinnier than the other. Not grossly skinny but when I pick her up I can feel the difference in weight. I attempted to empty her crop. The next day it was still not emptying. A day or so passed (this being the time that others told me not to be worried) but I noticed it seemed as if she had a double crop. There were two round sized masses of feed. Seeming her food from the past two days. At this point I emptied her crop and isolated her. She did have 2 poops in that day of being isolated and I gave her some water with apple cider vinegar. The next day I made her a bra and monitored her eating (more scheduled) {The other girls were a bit upset!} The following day I let them free choice feed again all the while wearing a bra. So that was two days ago or so. This whole ordeal has been going on for almost 2 weeks. I massage her crop at times to let the food go down. Also she is fixated on eating. Today it rained and all the other girls sought shelter yet my Esty ate!! I looked up pendulous crop as its not sour and its not hard. What do I do now? It pendulous crop the problem? Is it on going? Do she always have to wear a bra? Is it something else? Is there something else I should be doing?

I’m new to this too. But I’ve *read* taking a syringe of olive oil & dropping tiny drops into chickens mouth, or rubbing the bottom corners of their beak with some of the oil, might help. You might wait for a more experienced person to respond regarding that, though. I hope her crop issue resolves itself ! It’s nerve- racking I’m sure. :fl
