Yesterday I was unsure whether or not my chick had an impacted crop. She is about 8 weeks old. She wasn't acting herself. All puffed up, standing still, falling asleep standing up. I took her out for a little while yesterday, felt around on her and her crop feel a bit squishy.. But, the wierd thing is a little higher up there kind of a hard know right in the center above where he crop should be. I gave her a little bit of scrambled eggs with some oil on it yesterday to see if that could help things moving. She perked up a little bit after that. I put her back in the coop and went to check on her later. Same deal as before. Took her out for the night. Checked her again this Mornin and that knot is still there and she's still not acting right. Should I give her more oil? I have massaged the area. She has pooped 2 time in the last 10 hours I know of. It was mostly white with some lime green in it. Also, I have been withholding food since I took her out last night. She is still drinking water. How long is it ok to do this?

I would give her food and water - then check her crop in the morning (it should be empty at that point, having not eaten yet for the day).

Watch for diarrhea (even without bloody droppings) and the reluctance to eat or drink (along with lethargy and feathers fluffed up, standing by herself) which might point to coccidiosis at that age.

Would her crop have emptied out from last night to his morning when I had her out? There were come pine type shavings that blew in from all of the storms we were having her. If she would have eaten those could it be causing any problems?

It almost looks like a breastbone or something. I can part the feathers back on her chest and see it sticking out... She's never had that before...
