Great to know, what kind of digestive enzymes are there i could get? Any specific brands or ways to break it down?I and a couple of other people here have had success adding digestive enzymes for straw and grass impactions. You want to find one that includes cellulase. It helps to break down tough fiber foods and reduce fermentation.
You may need to do more vigorous crop massage to break up the contents. Get 2 fingers into the center of the mass and rub side to side quickly. When that section loosens up then move to the next hard section.
If you can feel a ball of straw you can also very gently get ahold of it and pull it apart.
Several small massage sessions are better than a couple of long sessions.
It took almost a month for me to get the straw ball out of my hen as it was the size of a tennis ball
I tend to give her plenty of long massages, i try to break it up instead of cupping her crop in my hand.
Ill also try the stool softener as well, i may also get a head start and prepare if she has sour crop and get the vaginal cream just so if i see signs ill be ready for it.
