Impacted crop won't go away!?!

Thank

thank you. It’s sad, and I failed her.

No, you didn’t fail her. She was loved. And though it may not bring much comfort at this time, you have learned and are better equipped to care for your flock moving forward. You know what my first loss was? I had a girl with EYP. On a very (record breaking) hot day, I was dipping the girls in water. Some protested. Some enjoyed it and asked for a second turn. My sick girl died. I should never have dipped her. I was a new chicken keeper and did not know you never wet a sick bird. I still get misty eyed and lumpy in the throat when I think of her. But I will never, ever dip a sick bird again. It sucks. The tough lessons really hurt. I’m not saying you did anything wrong, just trying to tell you that you are not alone and we feel for you. Big hug.

Thank you. I surely am prepared now. I have every type of medication anyone would ever need. I know I shouldn’t feed my girls so many treats now...peanuts, and scratch before bed “aren’t always a good thing”, maybe fermented feed wasn’t anything I needed to do.....if I see a chicken laying shellless eggs as often as she did (she also had yolkless eggs) , it isn’t good,... soaked bedding under the roost wasn’t a broken egg, it’s runny poo and something is wrong....but you’re right, she was loved. And I did try to be a good mom...fresh bedding every day, cleaned the run every day, best food I could find, clean water, lots of interaction, and now that Dixie was sick, I read and read and read up, on so many topics, I should be better, and will be better, at this,... .....hopefully things go smooth from here forward.
Thank, you again for your kindness. It really does mean a lot to me.
