Impacted crop

I'm not sure I can fit a cage in her coop - it's pretty small, but I'll see what I can do. I can probably get her out during the day if the weather is good. She is part of a small flock. Just three hens and a roo and they are pretty good to each other. They never picked on the roo when he was injured. But I do want her to get back with here flock as soon as possible.

I would make sure she is eating normally (regular chicken food) without a problem first, before I put her back in. Introduce food, a decent amount, at bed time and check her crop in the morning (it should be flat, just lay your hand on it). Once that looks good, give her some regular chicken feed (whatever you use) before bed time, check her crop in the AM, if it's flat she's good to go. Especially if she's pooping, she's good to go. Make sure she gets some grit if needed. I agree with getting her back in the flock ASAP just check that her food isn't impacting the crop.

My problem was Flock Block and we did the surgery ourselves, worked like a charm. Good luck

She is still doing good today. I was amazed at the difference in her color yesterday. Her crop is going down at night. I will try her on watered down chicken feed today.

The vet said it was ok for her to be outside, but not on the ground or able to get grass or bedding until he sees her again. The weather is still too bad to take her out.

I tried bringing in her roo and got flogged really bad in the process. I had to walk through the pen with the roo that hurt him awhile back. He went after him with the intent to kill and of course got me. (He has never gone after me before.) Now I know they can't ever range together again.

Because her roo still has issues from the head injury he isn't completely normal acting. She started to pluck his neck feathers, so I had to take him back out. I brought in the other RIR hen and they are happily talking and eating.

A shot of olive oil worked for me on one of my reds. Crop the size of a baseball was gone this morning. Thought I would be looking a surgery.....Thank God I'm not.

have any of you been able to take photos? I would love to see images so that i could learn please.

thank you in advance
