impaled chicken

Hi....familiar with the site, but first time posting.
I have 4 young chickens (7 weeks) that we have been trying to merge into our existing 4 hens. (obviously 2 early) The older ones are about 3-4 months old. It seems that the little ones have been getting chased around the run a bit and one of them has suffered a pretty substantial injury. The young chicken is on a perch and has a piece of beach grass (about an 1/8" thick) speared through her body. Looks to be just under the wing and up through the shoulder? No blood...just a "spear" clearly going right through her.

I don't want to even upset her as she sits there, but if I take the "spear" out I imagine she will likely bleed out?

Has this ever happened to anybody before? I have no idea what to do.

Any advice is appreciated.

Picture? I would think it would be unlikely to bleed out unless it's in an artery, but I would have a half-cup of cornstarch on hand, just in case.

If it helps, that doesn't actually sound like too serious an injury to me. I think she'll be fine.

Ok thanks. You need to separate her from the others so she or the others don’t injure it more.

Could you get a close up pic. Is it going all the way through? Is she in pain? Is she mobile? How fresh is the wound?
